Here’s a run through.

Scenarios you’re possibly in:

  • Cx is unable to create profile using control panel
  • Outlook profiles keeps on getting corrupted
  • OST files errors in Outlook

Prerequisites:

  • Activated Office desktop suite
  • Operational Windows OS

Quick Fix:

  • Look for the directory below
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\OfficeXX
    • C:\Program Files \Microsoft Office\root\OfficeXX

Note The xx.0 placeholder represents your version of Office (16.0 = Office 2016, 15.0 = Office 2013, 14.0 = Office 2010).

  • If mlcfg32.cpl is missing proceed to Worst Case. If it is present, proceed to step 3
  • Run regedit.exe and go the the ff. path
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\Cpl
  • Create a string and name it mlcfg32
  • On the created string add below directory depending on the OS architecture
    • C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\OfficeXX\mlcfg32.cpl
    • C:\Program Files \Microsoft Office\root\OfficeXX\mlcfg32.cpl

Worst Case:
