Supported On-prem: Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
Note
You can’t use a staged migration to migrate Exchange 2013 or Exchange 2010 mailboxes to Office 365. Consider using a cutover migration or a hybrid email migration instead.
Verify you own the Domain

Assign license to users

Convert on-premises mailbox to mail-enabled users so that migrated users can get to their email
Create a new password for the mail enabled user
Rebuild a new Outlook profile
Route your email directly to office 365
Assign license to users
Delete the staged migration batch
Complete post migration tasks
Decommission on-premises Exchange servers
